The Asphalt Institute (AI) is excited to welcome Charles M. Boan, Asphalt General Manager at Flint Hills Resources, LP, as the AI Chair in 2025.
Based in Minnesota, Boan brings a wealth of experience and leadership to his new role. He has served on the AI Board of Directors and chaired the Public Policy and Relationships Committee, the Meetings Task Force and the APA Marketing Council. Most recently, Boan served as AI Vice Chair in 2024, positioning him well to take on this new responsibility.
“Our committees, labs and field teams at AI and the foundation are tackling industry challenges head-on,” said Boan. “We have exciting opportunities ahead to rebrand and better market ourselves to both the industry and the public. It’s gratifying to see the industry recognizing the critical work we’re doing to ensure our member companies can operate successfully now and into the future. I’m optimistic about what 2025 will bring – and we’ll aim to have some fun along the way.”
Boan has 34 years in the industry – all with Koch Industries. He is the father of three and enjoys hunting, travel and finding the best dive bars. An interesting fact about Charles is that he was once struck by lightning!
Joining Boan on the AI leadership team is Seth Hankowski, who has been named Vice Chair for 2025. He is the CEO of All States Materials Group in Sunderland, Massachusetts.
