Held once every four years, the U.S. Department of Defense hosted their Transportation Systems 2008 Workshop in Phoenix on April 20-24.
The Air Force, Navy, Army and Federal Aviation Administration were all well represented with over 500 military and civil service engineers, consultants, contractors, suppliers, etc. Over 140 presentations (some with published papers) were presented on a variety of topics covering the maintenance, repair, rehabilitation and construction of airfields, streets and parking lots. AI’s Mark Buncher gave three presentations, an update on the Asphalt Institute and two separate papers on the guidelines developed for airfield rubblization from the recently completed research project AAPTP 04-01.
