The 80th meeting of the Association of Asphalt Paving Technologists (AAPT) was held March 6 – 9, 2005, in Long Beach, California, with more than 260 registered attendees representing the highest attendance in the past three years.
During the meeting banquet, AAPT conferred the award of Honorary Membership to former AI Director of Research (and AI Roll of Honor Recipient) Vyt Puzinauskas and former AI Member Rep (and AI Distinguished Service Award Recipient) Larry Santucci. Honorary membership is the highest award conferred by AAPT to an individual. In their acceptance speeches, both Vyt and Larry noted the role of the Asphalt Institute in their careers.
The meeting also featured four technical sessions, a workshop session emphasizing practical papers and a symposium session highlighting five presentations on developments in quiet HMA pavements.
