Mexico hosts Superpave workshop

The Asocación Mexicana del Asfalto (AMAAC) hosted an October 2008 workshop in Querétaro, Mexico, where close to 200 attendees were present to hear presentations on asphalt mixture design and performance testing. This was a kick-off event for Superpave in Mexico. The country will change their specifications to Superpave standards with adjustments for Mexico’s traffic and local aggregates.

In addition, Mexico is adding performance testing to their design and quality control procedures. The performance tests will be selected based on the traffic level and include wheel tracking, dynamic modulus, and flexural fatigue. The 6th Mexican Asphalt Congress and 2009 PIARC International Seminar will be held August 24 – 28, 2009, in Cancun, Mexico. For more information, visit www.amaac.org.mx.
