AI adds three to Roll of Honor

The Asphalt Institute (AI) awarded Dr. E. Ray Brown, Ronald L. Rupp and Professor Byron E. Ruth their Roll of Honor medal at their annual meeting in Bonita Springs, Florida.

The Roll of Honor is AI’s highest level of recognition and is awarded to individuals who have contributed greatly in asphalt technology or leadership.

Dr. Brown was honored in part for his tenure as director of the National Center for Asphalt Technology (NCAT) at Auburn University. Under Brown’s direction NCAT grew to a world-class research and training facility with a full-scale test track.

Rupp was honored posthumously. Rupp’s son Tim accepted his award. The elder Rupp was an executive with Marathon Oil for 33 years. A former AI chairman, Rupp showed strong leadership during pivotal times in the asphalt industry.

Ruth was honored for his commitment to education. He began his teaching career at the University of Florida in 1970. His practical approach to teaching and research in asphalt technology is known and appreciated throughout the industry.
